George Murphy is a versatile Irish singer-songwriter known for his powerful, gritty voice and his ability to bridge the gap between traditional Irish folk and contemporary music. Early Breakthrough

Murphy first caught the public eye in 2003 as a contestant on the Irish reality talent show You’re a Star. At just 17 years old, his deep, soul-stirring vocals—reminiscent of legends like Luke Kelly and Ronnie Drew—stunned audiences. His debut album, Dreamed a Dream, reached number one on the Irish charts and earned triple platinum status.

In 2017, George reached a major career milestone when he was invited to join the
world-renowned folk group The High Kings. He stepped in to replace founding member Martin Furey, bringing a fresh, raw energy to the ensemble’s polished harmonies.

During his tenure, he toured extensively across the United States, Canada, and Europe, performing to sold-out audiences and cementing his reputation as a world-class balladeer. After roughly two years with the group, George decided to “step away to focus on his solo career” and return to his roots.
